Do these sets of tuning bits have the same tapers?
Are the angles different?
Are the lengths different?
I'm thinking about buying some spares for my hoard of project Sousas and helicons, but can't discover the technical differences from the web merchants. I'm not a repair tech, so I do not have access to the Allied catalog.
Thanks.

Re: Tuning bits-Conn 20K & Conn-King
The Conn bits are interchangeable with each other. In other words, both are the same. The King pair of bits are two different sizes, one which goes into the receiver and one which goes into the other bit and into which the mouthpiece goes. You can tell the difference by the ferrule at the top of each bit. You can tell that one of the King bits has a wider ferrule than the other. While you may be able to use Conn bits in some Kings, and vice versa, they generally each require their own style bits.

Thanks, Lew.
Any guesses as to the nomenclature of these tuning bits?
They were used with a new gooseneck of possible Olds design to make my BBb York Sousa playable at a reasonable price. I should have asked more questions of the repair tech.
Thanks again!

Might be Olds or Jupiter bits. Here's what's currently available from Allied:Dean E wrote:... Any guesses as to the nomenclature of these tuning bits? ...

Shave and a haircut...the power of punctuation:
What do you think? I'll shave you for nothing and give you a drink!
What! Do you think I'll shave you for nothing and give you a drink?
