Other "Tubenets"...

Post by phoenix »

Just curious...

Us tuba players have tubenet for our questions. Do say trumpets, clarinets, flute, etc. have similar forums that they can use? Or are tuba players just amazing and the only ones to think of this wonderful idea?

If there's an instrument, there's probably at least one discussion forum or list for it.

Just google for "xxx list", "xxx BBS" "xxx forum" and "xxx forum".

Here's a sample resources page for clarinets:

There are a couple of good ones for trumpet:

Trumpetmaster has an awesome forum called Manny 911, which is led by Manny Laureano of the Minnesota Orchestra. Manny puts in a lot of time providing very thoughtful answers to questions people post, and the things he talks about apply to any brass instrument. I've really enjoyed reading his posts. I've never met him, but he sure seems like a great guy!

I have also heard a recording of manny play, and he sounds REALLY REALLY good. Makes me proud to be minnesotan.

I have a buddy that is going to try to take lessons from him.

Trombones have the Online Trombone Journal, though I don't recall the URL.
