Alan Baer of NY Philharmonic in a live TubeNet Chat!!!

Post by WoodSheddin »

7:00pm Eastern Standard Time

Live 30 minute chat session with Alan Baer of the New York Philharmonic will take place this Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 7:00pm EST. He will take your questions regarding a wide variety of topics and will provide insights into the events which affect our musical field.

Mr. Baer will be the very first guest to use this newest feature of TubeNet and we are honored that he agreed to take time out of his schedule to do so. For those who have been living in a cave the past year Alan Baer's information on the New York Phil website can be found here: http://newyorkphilharmonic.org/meet/orc ... sonNum=931 Before winning the position with the NY Philharmonic he had won the job as principal tubist with the National Symphony Orchestra a week prior. Info regarding that audition can be found here: http://www.chisham.com/tips/bbs/sep2003 ... 48766.html

The discussion should be interesting and here is your chance to ask him directly about whatever is on your mind. I look forward to seeing you all there and hope for a good turnout.

Log on early as this is limited to a maximum of 100 people on a first come first served basis using TubeNet Chat. Information on how to use TubeNet Chat can be found here: viewtopic.php?t=6855.

Great stuff, Sean!

You probably should mention that in order to use the Chat feature, the Macromedia Flash plugin needs to be installed and Flash-ad-blocking software will make things a bit more complicated...

Any chance of having a transcript posted for those of us that won't be able to be around for that.

I know it'd get long, but I just thought I'd ask...

Thanks for the heads up on a possible support issue. I think most people already have flash installed, but perhaps I am wrong.

Bloke,

I don't wanna touch that topic with a ten foot pole, but have to agree with your point about ITEA. Very interesting point!!

Most of my professional periodicalss now offer electronic versions posted a week or two before I recieve the printed version. While it's nice having some paper reading material for the throne room, I can flip through the electronic version, pick up what interests me in a fraction of the time it takes to flip past all the ads in the hardcopy version--and no "continued on page 148" problems.

Howdy, Sean!
I am very interested in reading the transcript of Mr. Baer's chat session. Any idea of how long it will be before it's ready, and how will we access it?

Thanks,
CJH
