Looking for Eddie Sauter scores

Post by AHynds »

Hello, everyone!

I recently came upon a great recording by Scott Mendoker and the New Hudson Saxophone Quartet of a little-known Eddie Sauter work "Piece for Tuba and Saxophone Quartet," and I'd very much like to perform this work at some point. I've done some searching, and I can't seem to find a place that sells (or even publishes) this score. Would anyone out there have a lead on where to find this piece?

I'm also looking for the original band version of his solo piece "Conjectures." The piano accompaniment is readily available, but I can't find the band version.

Thanks, and any help would be appreciated!

You might try contacting Carol Phillips at TUBARANCH. If the piece exists, it was probably written for Harvey and it could be there. I do not know much about the piece. Since Harvey's passing I would imagine not much has been done with all of his commissioned music, but I could be wrong.

Did you try worldcat? If it exists in a library somewhere in the world it might show up there.

Is there a library that has Sauter's music? Is it still controlled by the family? These are other options, too. Good luck in your search. Please post any information as there might be other who could benefit from your research.

Thanks!

Scott Mendoker is a contributor here on tubeNet--ask him where he found it?
