Having played the "Yamayork" a few times, including the one at ITEC, they do play very easily and play very well in tune for a 6/4 instrument. If money was no object, I would probably buy one. In my current situation? Not a chance.

Guys, duh... used tubas are way cheaper than new ones. Just buy a used one.

But really... how many of us would own the things we do if we had to buy them all brand new? I know what a new Rudolf Meinl costs.

From what I've heard, depending on the customer, the price is negociable with Yamaha. (depending on how much they would like you to play it)
I played one briefly, and was impressed, but luckily I'm a BBb only player

Good idea, but moving to the US is not really on my wish-list...
- I'm currently living a lot closer to the yamaha facility where the Yamaha 'Custom' instruments are being made. (and closer to all European instrument manufacturers)
- The relative price of a Yamayork (wrt the price of a house) is actually cheaper here (go figure)
