SiriusXM deleted Classical Pops 75

Without warning SiriusXM radio just deleted channel 75 Classical Pops. You can still get it on internet but no longer on your car satellite radio. Bummer. That was my favorite station because I could listen to short complete pieces on my numerous short drives. I think I will cancel my subscription.

Canceling your subscription is the best thing that you can do in this case-- you're voting with your wallet, which is probably the loudest way you can speak! Be sure to send them a quick note letting them know why you've decided to make this decision.

I have never known anyone who actually subscribes to satellite radio.

If you have a car with a satellite receiver it is(was) the easiest way to get a variety of decent music on the road. I can still get Opera and Classical but they are usually full concertos or symphonies and I hate to quit in the middle of the 2nd movement.

Sorry to hear this. I wasn't aware of it and I listen to it sometimes. My main use of XM is to listen to Yankee games when I'm in the car deep in the heart of Texas!

I cancelled my SiriusXM subscription with extreme prejudice on the 17th, the day of their channel lineup change, because they left me with one very weak Classical channel, 'Symphony Hall', which is more like a baroque recital hall most of the time. I've little use for Opera.

I've since moved to Grace Internet Radios at home for internet streaming. There is a dazzling array of stations that stream all sorts of classical music. My current go-to favorite is 'Tears of Glory' in the Classical genre of Live365. This is one of several movie soundtrack mix channels I have found, and it plays Action-Adventure/Sci-Fi movie music. SoundHound is a must if you want to know what's playing because the titles etc. of the currently playing selection aren't displayed on this channel. To get the most out of these radios you MUST register them on the Grace site.

A big plus with the Grace Internet Radio family is the Android or iPhone app with which you can program and control the radios. The app isn't bullet- or idiot-proof, but with practice I've been able to do pretty much anything I want to. The two radios I have are the Innovator X in my kitchen to which I'm currently listening and the Tuner in my great room which plays through my A/V Receiver and speakers.

My music needs on the road are currently being met by my CRV's ability to play MP3's on a Compact Flash card that I loaded up a couple of years ago. I hope today to add 'iHeart Radio' on my Galaxy S5 Android phone since the required dual-male miniplug cable just arrived. I'm hopeful it will work via Sprint's 4G LTE data connection, at least most of the time.

The SiriusXM app has been deleted from all of my mobile devices and from my computer bookmarks. Good riddance! In retrospect I should have cancelled SiriusXM when they removed 'Cinemagic' from satellite distribution a year or so ago, the only other channel I liked.

This is a huge bummer to me. Although I prefer the programming on the Symphony Hall channel, it was nice to have Pops as an alternative to switch to if Symphony Hall was playing something I didn't like. And I sometimes enjoy the Met Opera channel too, but there's only so much opera one can listen to. It's kind of a double whammy, because they are also watering down the Symphony Hall content with more lighter classical music from the Pops channel.

Having moved the Pops channel to online streaming is no help. SiriusXM is my car entertainment.

Having worked in the satellite communications industry, I know that spectrum is precious, but there is SO MUCH duplication in their other programming already. Something else could have been sacrificed instead. Only having one instrumental classical music channel is unacceptable. Their whole pitch when they were getting started was that FM radio was too compromised by commercial concerns and that a paid satellite service was above that. Apparently not.

I'm going to be cancelling the service in my two cars as well. I occasionally enjoy some of the rock and news/traffic stations as well, but the value proposition has sunk below my threshold of being willing to pay for it with the loss of the Pops channel.

I currently have a subscription, but it is a 3 month free trial that came with the purchase of my car. I have enjoyed it and am glad to have it, but once the three months is up it'll go away. In the meantime, it has travelled well with me all over Minnesota, North Dakota, and now into Montana. I am very grateful for not having to search for new radio stations every 50 miles.

With our new pickup truck, we got a year of free Sirius. I tried classical music on it, and the classical stations were bad. Better than the local non-profit over-the-air classical station (which is awful), but not good. Definitely not worth giving them any money for.

During that year of free Sirius, my son and me (he was 10 or 11 back then) used to go dirt-bike riding in the truck, and we always listened to the Grateful Dead channel on the radio. That was the only thing worth listening to. But for the $99 per year it would have cost us to renew, we could have bought a huge stack of Grateful Dead CDs.

Today, I only listen to canned music (copied from my CD collection), using the USB input to the car. Radio is for traffic news.
