I think this has been discussed before , but I can't seem to find it.
How do different Geib mouthpiece models compare to each other? (Stofer, Kanstul, Schilke, ...) Which version do you like the best, and why? I am currently trying a Stofer Geib on my Rudy Meinl, and I like it a lot...except it is the wrong shank size. This got.me to thinking how the Geib models, in general, compare to each other.
I just spent some time looking at old posts, apparently I posted about this stuff like 1.5 years ago. I had decided to buy a Kanstul Geib, but never got around to it. I emailed Jim New this afternoon, so we'll see what happens.

Yes... people have talked about them from time to time here. It was extremely easy to order... I called the main Kanstul number and asked for Jim New. I told him what I wanted, and he said he had some sitting around and would get one right out to me. 2 days later, here it is! And even if one wasn't already in stock, it would have only been 2 weeks or so.
I honked around on it for a bit this afternoon, and I think it's a really nice mouthpiece, and it works well with my tuba. Great response and full and clear sound. A bit "rounder" sounding than some other mouthpieces I have. That's about all I can say for now, I really can't tell if I like it more or less than any of the other mouthpieces I have right now, but I will certainly put it through its paces to find out!
Funny enough, even though I like a number of mouthpieces in my tuba, my RM-1 (old, worn, "West Germany") still comes through as my favorite. Just wish the diameter was a *little* larger.
Well... that's certainly an option I may consider later on, however for now, I think I need to allow myself to adjust to my tools, instead of constantly changing my tools.
That said... I've spent a few more hours with the Kanstul Geib, and WHOA, this thing is great. It helps me sound much better than I think I am, and does so with less effort than other pieces. It's a winner for sure. Not sure if it's *the* winner, but it's certainly *a* winner! Thanks for the suggestion!

Curious myself, particularly if one plays a little "tighter" than the other; on my big horn that can be beneficial.
