Antoine Courtois serial number?

Post by butch »

Hello Tubenetters

Today I had my Antoine Curtois saxhorn in my hands. I didn't play it for quite a long time as a friend of mine had it. As I'm not sure how old it is, I checked the serial number, which is 3841 (should I write 3***? :? ). Searching the internet, I didn't find a list of serial numbers for Antoine Courtois serial numbers. I found an old thread from 2002 dealing with the same question (http://www.chisham.com/tips/bbs/apr2002 ... 92711.html) but no answer as well.
Any ideas?

I also found a nice picture of Antoine Courtois' shop in Paris. Unfortunately there is no date mentioned.

Ah, and this is my saxhorn:

What is the latest date given for awards embossed on the bell?
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

The music publisher, Emmanuel Gaudet, at 4, boulevard Bonne Nouvelle in Paris and in partnership with Emile Deslaurier, acquires the Antoine Courtois manufacturing plant at 88, rue des Marais, where they lend a new perspective and bring with them to the company 100,000 francs in capital on 31 August, 1927 – headquarters at 8, rue de Nancy.
Taken from their website

So your saxhorn dates from after August 1927 .
The factory moves again in 1956.
Cant carry a tune but I can carry a tuba.
