Viking "crosstown" cases?

Post by bort »

Does anyone have experience with the Viking "Crosstown" style cases?

http://www.vikingcases.com/html/crosstown.html

I'm mostly looking for a storage solution to (1) Move halfway across the country with my tuba and (2) keep my tuba completely safe at home (safe from being damaged by kids, pets, etc.) The price I was quoted for this was extremely fair. Not trying to fly with it, so it doesn't really matter that it's super heavy.

Anyone? :tuba:

I've owned one of these for over 10 years. I've moved and flown with it numerous times. They created it so I could drop my gig bag down into the case and remove it when I get to my destination. The case is still in perfect condition minus a few scuffs. I highly recommend the case/company!

Perfect, thanks! Being plywood, is it just heavy as lead? Not a problem for my uses, just curious. Is that the main difference between the "crosstown" and the other flight cases? Lighter-weight material?
