Howdy fellow tubenetters,
Anyone else out there playing through the Studies on Christmas Carols by Arthur Frackenpohl? I dig them out every year to play with students in December. They are a little hokey, but some of them are fun to play.

Re: Studies on Christmas Carols
Axiom Brass (Kevin Harrison, tuba), has performed Jim Stephenson's recently completed Wassail, Wassail All Over the Tuba. It covers a relatively wide range on the horn. But Jim is a trumpet player (formerly played professionally, now concentrating on composition and arranging), so he has made a technically-sounding work (a take-off on "Carnival of Venice") quite manageable on CC tuba.
Despite the fact that Jim is an extremely accomplished composer whose works are getting played all over the world, I didn't mean for this to turn into a plug. But I've had the pleasure of performing two of Jim's compositions this year and he has become a good friend (it helps that he lives locally). Check it out at http://www.stephensonmusic.com. Jim has written lots of good music for tuba, including a concerto that was performed (and recorded?) by James Jenkins and the Jacksonville Symphony.

Re: Studies on Christmas Carols
This work is out of print, unfortunately. Does anyone have it for sale? I spoke with Kendor Music on the phone and they said a copy can be legally made from an original as long as I pay them. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks in advance.
