Dillon CC tuba advice

Post by tubaguy321 »

Hello, fellow tuba players. I just found a Dillon DCB-410 tuba (copy of Miraphone 188) for sale for $900. It comes with a Protec Gig Bag, and an Arnold Jacobs Gold Plated Mouthpiece. He says there is a dint in the bell, but nothing that effects the horn. I am going down to the local university to try it out tomorrow. Any advice you guys can give me for this horn? Thank you.

If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

A CC tuba in really good shape, with at least 4 valves, with a gold plated mouthpiece and gig bag for $900? Either that is the best deal I ever saw or that sucker is very hot. Proceed with caution!
My opinion for what it's worth...

It's a bloody good price as a new one is about $2400. Of course it's a Chinese horn, but they're pretty highly regarded for the price (good intonation, decent sounds and build quality). If you think it plays well enough to be useful and it doesn't appear to be obviously stolen, I would buy it.

I think the 410 is actually a clone of a Miraphone 186, but these horns are said to be faithful copies & DO play very well with good intonation. That price is a steal.........make sure it isn't stolen!

I am really curious why you posted this in 3 different sections of this forum???
