Deck really gets some zing out of that tuba. Looks like a M-W 2165 or the like. Sounds surprisingly bright; could be the way he is mic'ed or maybe he was using a small mpc. Either way, it fits the 'tone' of the piece pretty well

Warren very much believed in using the entire timbral spectrum of the tuba, from "wood" all the way to "metal" (that's how he described it). Regardless of which timbre he chose, it was always clean and controlled. An amazing player and teacher.

We wear so many different "hats" in an orchestra: sometimes a string bass, sometimes a 4th trombone, sometimes a french horn. It's important we have all those timbres in our 'tool boxes' so we can match whatever role is required.
