How many tubas are there in the world?

What's the total size of the tuba population? Include baritones/euphoniums in your estimate if you like.

Euphoniums, baritones, tromboniums, tubas, sousas, helicons, cimbasso, and other low brass stuff?? Hell... I think I have fifty or so myself!

The obvious solution is to buy one new instrument from each manufacturer and then sum the serial numbers.
