Re: How many at YOUR TubaChristmas?
We noticed the sousie, but couldn't really hear it on the other side where we were- three Alexanders in a row will do that
Apparently some of our 66 were musicians who usually play the Baltimore TC, which was cancelled due to very bad weather this year. Since ours is indoors we don't have to think about that
ScottW- were you at Bel Air? If so, what were you playing?
Thanks to all who came- see you next year!

Re: How many at YOUR TubaChristmas?
I'm not sure, but I think the Bel Air TC started just after (or shortly before) I moved out of Baltimore. Always seemed like a good event though, and probably more enjoyable in a lot of ways than the Baltimore TC. What are the acoustics like in the armory? Some armories are okay, others are e-c-h-o chambers...

I was doing my best to blend with the large Besson/Boosey 3-valve compensator and Yamaha 201 in front of me, also playing the tuba 2 part.

Re: How many at YOUR TubaChristmas?
I could hear the other parts within the ensemble and think we sounded pretty good. No blatters (well, maybe a few during National Jingle Emblem). I'd say o.k. or better as far as armories go. At any rate, much better than my local armory - although it's fun to play next to our giant tank. No tanks in Bel Air.

No, Frank, I didn't make the trip due to family obligations. I wanted to go for the first time, but---maybe next year?
Since my wife stopped taking seminars near BelAir, I haven't gotten down and I miss the area.
ps--It would have been a Mirafone!

Re: How many at YOUR TubaChristmas?
Vancouver Canada held its 5th Tuba Christmas, and about 40 musicians performed for a large crowd of people skating on an outdoor ice-rink in the downtown core of Vancouver at Robson Square. The audience enjoyed the Christmas music, and an enjoyable time was had by all.

41 at the Lycoming Mall near Williamsport, PA. Down from a high of 55 two years ago. Last year was a bust because of an ice storm. Youngest this year was 14 and the oldest was 87. I played my euphonium but will be switching to BBb tuba next year. We'll see which I like better.

Somehow the San Francisco bay area didn't have one this year. Not sure if there's ever been one here.

We had about 200+ at our 35th anniversary Tuba Christmas, Houston this year. Great crowd and great weather.
