Salem (OR) tuba holiday

Anyone know or wants to venture a guess how many tubaists are expected for the Salem "Tuba Holiday" on December 24th?

Our son will go and play; he'll probably bring the F tuba (it's his shiny new toy), and they'll probably need high tubas more than low tubas.

What's appropriate dress code? Shorts, T-shirt, and Santa hat, or Tuxedo with red bow-tie? If nobody knows, we'll contact the organizers and ask.

The few images I found online show reg. street clothes as the proper attire. Santa hats (suits) seems to be optional

Salem stopped using the Harvey Phillips music last year, hence, cannot use the term "Tuba Christmas" (c). They limit their participants to 100 as the stage at the Elsinore Theater can't take more than that. Their info is at info@salemconcertband.org" target="_blank. John Skelton is your contact person. It is a fun day; the Elsinore is a great venue, and they always sell out. Festive holiday attire seems to be pretty standard.

We have gone to a similar strategy in San Antonio. Since The TubaMeisters sponsor the event, we call it a TubaMeister Christmas. We use other arrangements, which are generally slightly easier than the official TubaChristmas. This makes it more accessible to very young players, and to those whose primary instrument is not tuba or euphonium. We are also able to produce the event, including copies of the music, for half of what the official event charges for registration alone. I sometimes wonder where all the $$ from registration goes. If the accounting is what I understand it to be, only a small percentage of it goes to those organizing the event.

While you are completely correct on the spirit of the event, I'll have to correct you on grammar: It *was* a fun day!

Our son greatly enjoyed it. The choice of attire (collarless shirt, black jeans, and red tuxedo vest) was perfect for the mix of musicians on the stage. Good thing he brought the high tuba, as there were few of those, and many BBb. Thanks to all the people who organized it!

Obligatory picture: He got to stand in front to show the difference and similarity between an F-alphorn and a F-tuba. The gentleman with the alphorn had some serious chops!
