What kind of tubas are being played 12 minutes 15 seconds?
I missed the webcast a few weeks ago, but it is archived. There are 350 tuba players in the foyer of the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
Don't miss the youngest/oldest ceremony at 16 minutes. The youngest tuba player is 8. The oldest, John Lear (I hope that I spelled it correctly), is 90 from Delaware.

Those are Civil War style (era?) over-the-shoulder tubas.
I guess the tuba players were in the front line (considered expendable, I suppose!), and the sound would go backwards toward the rest of the band & troupes.
