King Rotary Horn dorn

Post by Dan Schultz »

You'll probably never see these two horns side-by-side again. The King on the left is a rotary 'monster' BBb model 1291. The King on the right is a Bill Bell model CC rotary.

It might be a photographic illusion, but the BBb looks to be the same height as the CC with the front bells, but much shorter with the upright.

Great photo's, by the way.

Dunno. I posted the same image earlier and they either got deleted or I failed to complete the post.

EDIT: Somehow my original post ended up in the Ebay section. Don't know if it was by my hand or some kind of 'clitch'. At any rate... I asked Schleppie to delete it... which he did.

Schlepporello is the main moderator. Only moderators can delete posts other than the author of the post. PM him with your concerns.

There is another post with the same title and initial photos in the eBay forum. Don't know if that would be a source of confusion.

Must agree about the photos. Those rotary Kings are some mighty rare tubas. Those recording bells look to have a much larger throat than others such as, say, the recording bell for the 2342 et. al.

Actually... the bell throat on the CC is the same as the run-of-the-mill King 124X & 234X tubas. The BBb is the same as the 'giant' sousaphones.

Is the upright Bell on the BBb a Lee Stoufer bell or is it original?
