I will hopefully be looking at tubas this fall and I am kind of wanting to know where you all think I should go to try some horns. I am planning on havving to drive a ways or have to fly since I live in Colorado so Location isn't really a deciding factor. I'm probably going to be limited to $10,000 at the absolute most preferably around 6,000-8,000. Would WWBW be the place to go or are there other places equally as good if not better? The horn I would really like to try is the Mira 1291 but other than that I really don't have any personal preferences. Thanks ahead of time.

Well WW BW certainly makes sense as a good place to try out a lot of horns. The only other thing that "may" make sense is to come over to NJ (Dillons) where you can try out a bunch and then to MD(Baltimore Bras is about 3 -3 1/2 hour drive south....so basically you could hit up two for the price of one if you were to make the trip. Getting to baltimore is easy via train or rental car.

I'd say WWBW would be your best bet. They have most of the big brands other than HB and B & S, and in fairly good quantities because of their size. Also, if Roger Lewis is in that day, if you go in to try horns, I assure you you'll get a lesson, too. They also have all kinds of payment options and shipping things and stuff like that.

You don't have to try out horns in that display room. Woodwind/Brasswind has some very sophisticated try-out rooms with control consoles that allow you to simulate just about any type of venue you can imagine.
