Case Letter

People have asked about this so here it goes...

Travel with a tuba has been an active TubeNet topic these days - so here's another weapon in my travel arsenal:

I put this letter in my case, taped with gaff tape right to the horn so there is no way to miss it. I bring several copies of it as to put a fresh copy in with each journey.

I know that the TSA does read it, as they have responded to it... one guy even left a note saying that he was very careful.

I list the following things:
1.) instructions on how and how not to handle the tuba
2.) a photo of the tuba in the case correctly
3.) a plea to working stiffs. ...to let them know that I too am a working stiff working to survive and feed my kid just as they are. (this is perhaps the most important part)

So far, knock on a HUGE block of wood or brass or carbon... it's worked.

Honestly, I think the photo says it all.

And of course, the back of that sheet of paper, which says "Hey Motherf#$%er, turn this page over and read the other f#$%ing side, you f#$%ing f#$%! You are a New Yorker, right?

And here I thought the worst part was out on the tarmac. It's tough to think that it could get damaged before it even gets that far (and that a ground-damaged tuba would then fly safely -- I cringe to even think of it). Good luck, I hope it keeps working for you!
