Got my Eastman 632s yesterday in silver. It came with vented valves and Matt Walters set up the horn for me before he shipped it out and did his tweaking magic. Bar none, this is the best tuba I have ever played in any key. Everything that has been posted is absolutely true. As perfect as intonation can get on a tuba imo, stunningly beautiful sound with loads of color, and an instant response in every register. The low G is as good, if not better, than the Thor I used to own. The sound projects and I would not limit this tuba by calling it a quintet horn. I could see this holding up well in most orchestras, except maybe the biggest ones when they program huge works. The build quality and craftsmanship is as good as anything I've ever seen out of Germany. Big props to Matt Walters and the Eastman company on a true winner with this tuba!

Amazing. At the level of production that the changes were made from the prototype, correcting the errors made would have cost a minimal amount. Conn made those "compromises" because they were cheap and lazy. "Somebody" told Eastman what they wanted and they did it.

The EBC-632 does not appear to be listed on their website. What is the going price?

Bill,
That horn looks like the size of the Piggy I have. What would you say are the similarities and differences(besides rotary & .835 bore on the Piggy).

They're about a similar as a taco and a hamburger.

You need to call Matt at Dillon Music to get the actual price (which is too low for them to advertise).

I got a chance to play this horn at the South Central Regional Tuba and Euphonium Conference last week in Conway, Arkansas, and it's a great horn! Very free-blowing, great color, responds very well, and has great intonation. If I'm ever in need of a smaller CC tuba in the future, I may just pick one of these up. Very impressed!

That price on the website is the Minimum Advertise Price that Eastman says is the lowest price we can post. The actual selling price is less like what you thought. Just call your dealer (Hopefully Dillon Music) and ask for a price.

I had extra fun playing my own Eastman CC in community band last night. The day before, I did all the little TLC to my own tuba that I have been doing for my customer's tubas.

I'm also curious about the "deep" feel of the Eastman. The Conn never felt comfortable to me, moreso LOOKING at it than actually playing it. But it was/is a deep instrument, which seems to present all sorts of possible complications from bags to hard cases to simply carrying the thing. My six pack abs are more like a keg, so there is a basis of concern.

As someone looking into purchasing a smaller, more versatile CC tuba, the 3450 came up a lot as a potential instrument. Anyone have put them side by side and have anything to say about it?

Having owned and played one for over a month, I can tell you this horn is the most comfortable tuba to hold and play that I have to ever owned....period! No problems whatsoever. A great tuba. So very happy I bought one. Everyone needs to check these out.

PS. BTW, A Miraphone 1293 tuba gig bag fits the horn like a glove...

I completely agree with the comfort. It fits -me- very well and I don't have to use a tuba stand. My arms aren't contorted in order to reach the slides or valves.

The sound is fantastic. I played my teacher's horn on two different occasions and have fallen in love. For a smaller tuba it puts out a big sound. I plan to own one within the next month.
