B&S F Tubas

Post by tuba114 »

Does anyone know where I can play test B&S F tubas in the US?

Interested in the 5100 (PT-16) and the 5099 (PT-15).

Thanks!

If I had to guess I would say Custom Music in MI.

Woodwind Brasswind has a showroom, in Indiana I believe, where you can test various horns. You should be able to find the info on their site (I'm on my way to bed but cam look it up in the morning) and could call to see if they can set up a play test for you.

I know my professor in my undergrad went and tried out a few horns there and then had WWBW ship his horn back to his house (because that is generally cheaper than paying sales tax).

WWBW does NOT have a showroom any more. It's been gone several years.

Besson has showrooms in NYC and Jacksonville FL where most things should be available to try out. Check their website for more details.

My mistake. They had one last I checked, but I suppose time has flown and it must have been that long.

Indeed, they closed the South Bend store in late 2011.

Re: trying out some B&S horns, try to contact a local store that is a Buffet dealer in your area, they might be able to pull some strings and get those horns into their shop to try out (it might take a few months for them to do so, but it can happen).
