Actually I was going to suggest a piggy if you can find one.

I don't know about the rest of you but I draw a huge distinction between a piggy and a bubbie or plastic tuba. Worlds apart... Piggies are great in the studio also.

Yeah I'd love another Piggy, I don't know that I could find one in my current price range though.

Well, there you go, as you may know, rumor has it that the 2J was actually an Olds - serial number and all - with "Conn" engraved on it.

aside from cosmetics, are there any other factors that might make a $2,000 2J a better deal than the $1,000 Olds 99 that Bloke posted? Thanks

The "Bubbie" does not look like, sound like, or play like a tuba. It is a great practice tool. You wouldn't use a visualizer instead of a mouthpiece, would you?

Better deal in terms of resale? I bet a 2J in excellent condition is worth far more than any O-99, but I bet 2J buyers are far less tolerant of smashed bows and stuff like that.

I would go with the Olds. They have great sound for a smaller horn. Well built too. Can use it a a sledgehammer if needed too. :) There is a 4 vallve on ebay now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FE-OLDS-099-4-4 ... 419d483217" target="_blank I've bought stuff from this guy before. Usually has good items.
