To answer losts's question, the Rudolf Meinl 5/4 BBb/CC basically fit in the same case as a Holton/York 6/4 BBb/CC, or a M-W 2165. The bottom bow-to-bell connection diameter is not quite as large on the Rudi as on a Holton/York, but it is fairly close.

The "amount of water a R.M. 5/4 will hold" is more than made up for in the top one foot or so of the bell flare (as well as the valveset)...which accounts for the different color of sound than those others you mention above.
I'll have to fill my Rudy with water and see what different colors of sound I can get.....

I saw the HB next to a vintage King Monster rotary BBb... and their overall profile was remarkably similar. In a perfect world, the HB may be preferable, but I'm glad for my King Monster. When seen next to the Rudy, I know I made a good purchase :)

If you think they look good together, you should hear them in a section...
