Gig Bag For A Helicon??
I've already checked with Cronkite and he does not make gig bags for helicons. What brand bags have you guys seen for helicons? I have the original bag for my Bohm & Meinl helicon but it's only a skin of Naugahyde with very little padding inside.

Re: Gig Bag For A Helicon??
Donna Altieri told me that she has made more helicon bags for me than anyone else - not sure if that's a good thing . . . . Tuba Tinker, feel free to contact me about this. I've made up drawings for various tubas/sousas/helicons, send them to Donna, and she always sends a bag that fits right. At first, I doubted that she could make a helicon bag that was a perfect fit, but I was wrong - just like a very nice glove!
I must digress and tell a story; the first helicon bag she made was for a Buescher BBb helicon I owned, and it was an amazing fit. Not long hence, a guy showed up to my shop in Atlanta with the same model horn, and I did a bit of repair work on it for him. Towards the end of his visit, he longingly said that he wished that it would be possible to get a gig bag for it. My bag was only 6 weeks old and like-new, so I smiled went and got the bag, and proceeded to put his horn into it. I could have knocked him over with a feather, he was so shocked. I just smiled, sold it to him, and later called Donna to have her make me another one. We laughed about what the chances were of selling a gig bag to the owner of a 1920's Buescher helicon as a walk-in customer!

Donna made a bag for my 1916 4-valve Conn helicon. She gave me instructions on how to make a pattern. These patterns are kept on file for the next customer. I have been very pleased with the bag.

Re: Gig Bag For A Helicon??
Thanks for the responses. I email Donna Altheiri a couple of days ago but she probably hasn't had time to respond. The really good thing about this is that I have a THIN bag I can send her to use for a pattern. The old bag fits but just doesn't offer much padding protection and the zipper is failing.
