Due to the high shipping costs and liability reasons, I am unable to ship my f tuba for the breaks off of school. I play a custom Yamaha F as my main F tuba and looking to buy an instrument that I could use when I am unable to bring it with me. A travel tuba would seem optimal, but the only good travel tuba I have heard of is the trolley14 and that is out of my budget. Also, a good used f tuba would great if anyone knows of one. My budget is around $2500, and I spend my breaks in Boca Raton Florida. Please no Mack brass or Chinese brand other than Big Mouth Brass and maybe Wessex.

Sounds like you want to put $500 deposit down on Wessex's forthcoming Bubbie 5.

I don't see what sense this makes. But whatever. Buy the tuba you want.stefan hopman wrote:Please no Mack brass or Chinese brand other than...Wessex.

There's an Meinl Weston 46 for sale here for $2500. Just dig through the FS pages.
I will also never buy a Chinese tuba. Personal policy for me.

My point is that it doesn't make obvious sense to accept Wessex and not Mack.bort wrote:There's an Meinl Weston 46 for sale here for $2500. Just dig through the FS pages.

Oh hell, you're right. Lets go all-in... I'm going to buy a Chinese tuba, eat a Big Mac, and vote for Hillary Clinton all on the same day.kmorgancraw wrote:It is only a matter of time before you give in to the dark side. While it's called an "F" tuba, it's actually somewhere closer to an "E" tuba. Seriously though, I tried it, it would serve better as wall art than a functioning instrument.KiltieTuba wrote:Here's a Conn F frankentuba at Baltimore Brass Company for $1895:
