Question -- what about it (shape, style, playing characteristics) is different from a brand new PT-88?

Hi Joe! I have a 10 also. I think I bought it when I bought my HP-1P from Custom. It's a big mouthpiece, but I've never played an 88, so I can't compare. I know, for me, I felt it was too big for general playing. I used to use it in concert bands and orchestra when I wanted to unload. I did like the sound I got on it. I have a 19 and a 9 too. I might have bought them for my B&S F tuba. I think I was told that the newer models aren't exact copies of any of the older mouthpieces. They are based on, and very similar, with some modification , maybe in the rim. Sorry for basically no useful info. See you in DC (if it stops snowing!)

My old CMC literature is packed for the move. However, to the best of my recollection:
33.5 mm inside cup diameter.
Very deep, bowl-shaped cup.
Large throat & backbore, especially suited to big symphonic tubas with big symphonic chops behind them. These were pretty popular with guys who played big Rudys and Alexanders. This was basically the less funnel-shaped version of the Tilz/Perantucci 0.
