If I may be so bold as to translate your last criterium to "good ergonomics", and then continue by saying that these criteria are exactly what most non-tuba players demand, and get, from their instruments. If they don't meet these standards they won't sell to professionals. (yes there are always exceptions. Soprano sax, for example).

We have plenty of tubas to choose from for all types of work. Isn't it time we started rejecting tubas that don't meet these criteria?
