Eb Sousaphone

Post by theatomizer13 »

So a co-worker and I were talking about my recent tuba purchase and he mentioned that he has his grandfather's old Eb sousaphone. He mentioned that it was a rather small instrument and that he was missing the bits. Where could I find bits that would fit? Do you think it would be a regular shank or euro? He said that he didn't know the brand as it was all faded/ rubbed off.

You really need to post pictures and try to find our the maker. I have an "old" sousaphone that takes a small shank mouthpiece and the tuning bits are unique to the instrument. With that said, my horn dates from the 1890"s and was make in France. It is unlikely this horn is that old. With the expertise on this net, you should be able to determine the maker, the proper tuning bits, and how to get them.
