What are your favorite tuba mouthpieces, and why?

I'm still liking Mike Finn's work. Mike's MF3H it plays very much the same, but I like the grip of a sharper edge. I love the way this thing works

Just picked up one of these from Mike. I realize I'm still in the honeymoon period but the sharp inner edge and cup and shank design of the 3H offers me excellent control and more exact articulation than my PT-50 or any other pieces to date. Notes throughout all registers are well accessible with fast response and they center extremely well. Wonderful complex sound on my W900 using the "lite" version which is actually quite heavy. Not too dark nor too bright. As well, the MF American shank fits my receiver just like the PT shank or the Blokepiece Amer shank with a textbook gap. For my receiver the GW Euro leaves a large gap and the GW Amer goes in too far. Let's hear it for plumber's teflon tape. Same with the Stofer shanks, very much like the GW shank sizes. Played out with it last night and it was a pleasure to drive. Of course YMMV. Thanks very much Mike

Playing in a Brass Band I have always been fond of Denis Wick pieces. I use a 3L with my Besson 982 Eb most of the time and a 1L when I play the big Besson 984 BBb.
The new design (very similar to the Heritage pieces, but without the gold plating) is very comfortable with me as well. I don't think I'd ever use anything else.

Right now, a MIke Finn Model H is my main mouthpiece. It has a 32 mm cup diameter, fairly deep cup and open throat with a wide, somewhat flat rim, but without a sharp inner rim.

I also like the Warburton TG4, which is supposedly a copy of one of AJ's stage mouthpieces. It also has a 32 mm cup diameter. For a larger cup, I like the Canadian Brass AJ mouthpiece, and have one manufactured by Warburton.

I am anxiously awaiting receipt of two Wedge MPs. The 7b in the standard blank and the H2 in the heavy blank. Will report back when they arrive.
