Re: Miraphone 5/4 1295 CC - Great Condition

Post by Billy M. »

I wonder why these horns never got the kind of endorsement and generate the same excitement that the 1291,2,3 did and were discontinued.

Regardless, that is a very pretty and apparently WELL cared for Miraphone, Cameron. Someone will be getting a very nice instrument at a really good price. Bump.

Probably something to do with Baer's involvement in the 1291 / 1292.

There was also the 1290...

Anyway, this looks like a killer horn. Cameron, was this horn used very much, or just sat in a closet or something?

Wish I were tuba shopping!

You know... looking at these two horns definitely makes the whole 5/4 vs. 4/4 definition seem murky at times...

That's why I ask for pics holding the horn, ive went to play 4/4 horns that were bigger than other 5/4 horns.

I'm sorry. I should have made a different topic regarding this. Good luck on the sale!

Now wait a minute: I think the question of 'relative size' is very relevant. And we can ALWAYS expect Bloke to throw in some colorful commentary that many of us wish we had thought of first.

Cameron, if I hadn't picked up a rotary Neptune first, I'd be all over this. That's a great price for a tuba of this magnitude in such fine condition.

Thanks Barry.

I have received a few questions on the shipping. I will ship it for free on Greyhound. This method, although a bit pokey, is a great way to ship a tuba in a case. I just sent a horn from Oregon to White Plains, NY on Greyhound and it worked very well. I'm a convert.

If the buyer wants it shipped by truck I will box it up and send it but the cost is on them.

Again, the instrument is in Bend, Oregon.
