Re: Update Update
The wife got a cold shower this afternoon so I spent a couple of hours this evening replacing the water heater. I got in a hurry and turned the water on too soon and two couplings leaked. No water tonight. Will be making a run to ACE early in the morning for a couple of 3/4" PVC couplings and a new shut-off valve.
Should have waited another hour or so before turning the water on. Dumb.

Re: Update Update
Been there, done that. Except I left the valve open when I thought I had closed it when I turned the water back on. My wife was happy to get to wash all the towels we had to use to dry up the mess I'd made.TubaTinker wrote:The wife got a cold shower this afternoon so I spent a couple of hours this evening replacing the water heater. Re: Update Update
Water heater sequel.... DO NOT use PVC glue on CPVC pipe. I had to redo the water hook-ups this morning.
Duh!

Re: Update Update
Our water heater is over 20 years. I had a run of bad elements a couple years ago, but haven't had any trouble since. No sludge. If I remember right, I was able to replace an element without draining - a little water runs out, but not much if it's shut off at the valves.

Methinks I was in the audience during that fine exhibition.
If I remember correctly I was sitting with Leopold and I noticed he wept.

One year, at the Great Whiskey Soup Cook-off, I was speaking to Mssrs. Bean, Forester and Taylor, or was that Daniels??
Doesn't matter.
The soup was horrible, but the juleps, sublime!!

Re: Update Update
I don't know how it was in ages past, but lately I think among the things that I would hope to avoid, dying is way down on the list. It's a rare sunny spring morning here, so let's for example talk about bedridden + dementia, which is all too common in the US. Why? Who knows. Perhaps most such people were known to have been within 10 to 20 feet of commonly encountered chemicals (such as direct exposure to automotive products of unknown proprietary composition.) Ha ha, how droll.

Not familiar with the data, does "total drugs" include caffeine, alcohol and nicotine? I have a soft spot for caffeine, but have to admit it's addictive and not as safe as, for example, cannabis.

Most now-deceased people I knew prior to their deaths were known to have regularly been within 10 - 20 feet of commonly-encountered chemicals...and some of them also ate cheesecake.

... but how could one be certain that this isn't one of your troll subterfuges; i.e. that you inveigled the OP into posting the request for help in order to subsequently expose the dastardly deed and post that picturesque caricature of an Oscar .... hmmmm? If so then the kudos are on me.

So Joe, you come by it honestly. That's good to know. I was certain trolling was a skill you picked up in college or something.
