It was my first ITEC last year in Budapest-Hungary.
Through the Tuba-Journals I always had the chance to read about the earlier Conferences- such as the ITEC 2000 Canada and so on. I always thought that this is a big-big happening, with lots of Masterclasses and so on.
Altough it was a very rewarding experience to me hearing the Masters of our instruments, I was a little bit disappointed about the fact that there were particulary no Instrumental-Masterclasses. I really wanted to listen to Steven Mead, to Roger Bobo and others. I know that you just have to listen carefully on Steven Mead's recital and even so you can learn a lot, but I expected a little more.
Pat Sheridan, Jon Sass, Sam Pilafian, Ed Partyka weren't present at the confrence and I really missed it. We need this heroes here in Europe as well, and we have so little chances to see and hear them! I dont know if I'll be able to go to an other ITEC, and I payed for this ITEC because I heard that this Tuba-Stars -except for Mr. Pilafian- will be present in Budapest.
However they weren't....
Please dont take me wrong, it was a great ITEC and I enjoyed to be there, to see Mr. John Stevens, Mr. Jerry Young, Mr. Askew and so on, I just wanted to learn from them.
Thanks for the organisation, and thank you very much for you all who were flying over here to the heart of Europe.
