FT: Nirschl 4/4 CC

Hey everybody. I'm looking to upgrade to a larger horn if possible, and although I normally wouldn't go the trade route, I figured I'd see if anyone's interested.

I bought my horn 4years ago from a former undergrad student of where I was doing my undergrad in 2012. It's one of the German made 4/4 CC 4p+1R tubas. There has been some slight work done to the horn,although none of it was to affect playing. There steel rod in the rim of the bell wasn't exactly done right so I had to have someone add solder added in there. There's also a small metal piece that's been soldered onto the first valve slide that was put there so that a string could be tied around it so the slide wouldn't slide onto the floor during performances. These soldered points haven't affected the playing whatsoever.

The horn has done me well. I'm currently on a fellowship scholarship at Indiana University as a Graduate master's student and I used the horn for this audition. I also used it at auditions at UGA, Arizona State, and Michigan where I was also accepted and offered different assistantships/fellowships from some. I've advanced in The President's Own, West Point Band, and army field band auditions recently with this axe, and I've used it for everything; quintet, orchestra, band, solo. In fact, I plan on rocking John Stevens' "Journey" with it if I don't part with it by august.

I'm looking for trade offers to a bigger 5/4 or 6/4. Thor, PT-6, MW-6450. I'd entertain the prospect of any of the bigger CC tubas, although I'd have to work out a trial period.

I like your composition and playing. If military band is your goal, this horn seems perfect for those auditions. Very clear,articulate sound.

I agree it's done me well, but I just think I could still do great stuff on a maybe even a slightly bigger horn like a PT-6 and give that sound that they want. I'm gonna keep working on it with my Nirschl in case something doesn't work out, but it's just one avenue I'm considering. I think the fact I've advanced at some of the big band auditions means it can be done, so that's good.
