HAHA... I actually made all of the names up, APRIL FOOLS!! Just kidding... my name is William Hess and I received the information in an e-mail from a member of the Falcone committee this morning. I thought I'd post the results so all of us can finally get some sleep. I know I will. I hope this much needed information helps you prepare for the competition. Good luck guys!

Very strange this year

Post by katfey »

Seems like a wierd system this year.
Notify some but not all?

Hopefully they will put the euphoniums up on the official site soon.

Kick butt this year Jamie!

Falcone Insult

Post by EuphDad »

To have all who worked so hard to audition for this competition
find out in this manner is an insult. And to have a member of the Falcone committee make jokes about the notificalion is totally insensitive. This is completely unprofessional. To the best of my knowledge, those who auditioned have not had the courtesy of being sent a personal e-mail.

The Falcone Committee owes everyone who applied a huge apology and needs to review their notification procedures so this doesn't happen again.

What a shame. These fine musicians deserve better.

I agree with both of the previous posts, however, know that I have applied 3 years (including this year) and have NEVER received e-mail notification from the Falcone committee. I figured the only ones who received e-mails were the semi-finalists. I agree that the Falcone should take the time to let all of us know personally.

Meredith Healy got into the Air Force Band of the Heartland last year, but due to a hiring freeze, she couldn't technically join the Air Force (i.e. go to basic training, etc.) She only just found out a little bit ago that she's going to basic in June (good luck, Meredith! Don't die!)

So, yes, I assume she'll let the Falcone committee know that she won't be competing - as soon as the results are posted on the actual website. For all we know, this is an elaborate joke.

Not on the web yet

Jay Young -
Yes, the tuba results are posted on the site, but not the euph

And the person posting the start of this thread put up the euph results -
or what is claimed to be the results.

One of the semifinalists on his list is one of the people wondering where
the list came from since she didn't get an email notification of being selected.

Definitely something not right with this.

For the sake of those listed above, I hope this wasn't a joke.

Euphdad,
I just thought I'd let you know that I am not a member of the Falcone committee, I am a student, so it's OK for me to exploit my lame sense of humor. And the reason that I, as well as a bunch of others, got an e-mail this morning is because I bugged the hell out of the Falcone people the past few days via phone and e-mail. I was just trying to do y'all a favor by posting the results I received. But I do agree that the Falcone committee could be more personal and punctual with their notification process (they could start by living up to the date of notification they set on the website). Believe me, the individuals involved with the Falcone festival are wonderful people, and the festival is well organized ... with the exception of the notification process which has never, as long as I've known, been punctual. And finally I'd like to say to tubaeuphguy that the notification process has absolutely no bearing on the credibility of the judging process. I hope this clears some things up.

I'm a UNT Eupher (no I did not send in a tape this year) and in all seriousness, I think it's time for people on the TubeNet to stop badmouthing our studio. If some of our members have had success in recent years, it's not because they are "prodigious" or because God hands them an easy victory, it's because they know how to "persevere and work hard" like everyone else. 'Nuff said. There are many, many incredible euphonium players in other studios besides ours, and if one of them should happen to win - more power to them, it just means we need to practice harder. I don't believe in conspiracy theories.
In the meantime, hearty congratulations to all who made it, from UNT and elsewhere. You are to be commended.

That studio is awesome. Particularly the euphy studio. Every major competition I hear of you guys are there. It is a factory of great musicians and it should be with Bowman there. I don't know what bad mouthing goes on here but I'm in awe of such a fantastic studio. More power to yall...

If people think that the UNT Studio wins because there is some conspiracy, then you are just plain dumb. These people work hard, and it pays off. There is nothing in the water down there, just hard work. We all should strive for that. Grow up...

We all use 3-valve Jupiters here. One guy has an Amati, but no one talks to him.
