While I have not played this horn, I can vouch for the Hirsrbunner it was modeled after. I can tell just by seeing the picture of this horn that it is pretty much a carbon-copy clone of the HB-21 and likely plays very similarly to it. It is a 4/4 a little bit on the larger side with quick response. It plays in tune very well. I currently use it in a wind ensemble, orchestra, and brass quintet, and you get easily get enough sound out of this type of horn for the larger ensembles while also not sacrificing the quieter dynamics for chamber settings. When played well, this type of tuba has a very resonant and full low register as well as some well-tuned slots in the high range.
Finally, I can also vouch for Baer's PVAK when used on the HB-21 (as well as this horn if it really is true to the original). While it may make the valves just a tad louder on the up and downstroke, the PVAK really does improve the response of the horn in addition to saving the valve alignment. This would be a great horn to take with you to college or even to play as an amateur.
