FS: Hirsbrunner HB-2 SOLD
Hi everyone,
For sale is my Hirsbrunner HB-2.
I am located in Northeast Ohio near Akron, Kent, etc. I'm willing to drive a reasonable distance to meet for purchasing. My horn was built in 79 and is truly a great horn. I have used it in concert band, wind ensemble, brass band, quintet, tuba quartet, orchestra, and solo work. It works well in basically anything if you know what you're doing.
Hirsbrunner calls it a 4/4, but considering the bore and the size of the bottom bow, I think it is more of a compact 5/4 like a Miraphone Bruckner.
Intonation is actually quite good. I only push my first in for D and F in the staff. I keep my main slide out about 1/4 - 1/2 inch out for A=440 and it works fine.
Low register response is a little better than the other Hirsbrunners that I have tried. It feels funky at first, but after a couple days it clears up quite nicely.
Silver plate is pretty standard for a horn of its age. For the most part it's pretty good, except for near the thumb rest and the small bow near the first valve slide.
I really love this horn. Unfortunately I am going in a different direction with my contrabass, and I can't afford to have two.
I just got it cleaned in September 2016!
My asking price starts at $8800 or best offer for the horn and miraphone gig bag. Email me for pictures. mge8 AT zips.uakron.edu
TEMPORARY PRICE DROP
I have a horn in my sights that I really want to move on. Thus, I am lowered my price to $7500 to make a quick sale. This is a great chance for you to get a great deal! However, if that horn gets sold to someone else, I will raise the price back to the original asking price. Move now!

Re: FS: Hirsbrunner HB-2
Remind me... Is this a rotary tuba or a piston tuba?

Re: FS: Hirsbrunner HB-2
This one is a five rotor horn. All of them are nice and fast. First valve is vented.

TEMPORARY price drop to $7500. I have a horn in my sights, and thus I want to make a quick sale. However, if that horn gets sold to someone else, I will raise my price back to the original $8,800.

Re: FS: Hirsbrunner HB-2 TEMPORARY PRICE DROP
Does this have plastic or metal core rotors? I've heard some poor reports about the plastic core models.

It has the plastic cores. However, I've played in 98 degree weather without issues.
