Latest Gnagey 4/4 CC Sold building next one

Post by Sam Gnagey »

NEW PRICE: $6000. This is the most recent of our 4/4 CC tubas that we've produced. The stunning finish is frosted brass with bright bell interior, ferrules and valve cluster, It is all King (H.N.White) with the 20" bell and bottom bow being from a circa 1920 King Monster model EEb which is engraved with the initials U.S.Q.M.C. The valve cluster is from a recent era King 2341. Pistons were replated and fit by Anderson Silverplating. The first valve is vented. Now asking $6000 plus shipping. If interested in receiving more info or reserving this instrument for purchase please contact me by private message or email me at tubanurse@yahoo.com" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

Bump. Serial number 22,XXX from the EEb bell and bottom bow donor tuba indicate it was made before WWI. This is really a great playing horn.

Beautiful tuba, Sam. These ones you have had for sale lately look extra nice. The cutting & resultant spacing looks very well balanced throughout. Anderson valves, wonderfully de-dented, all cleaned up. The satin appearance with bright ferrules is pretty neat detail on this one, too.

Unsolicited bump for Mr. Gnagey. Went down to visit him and ended up getting my horn cleaned. Deb, his wife, and he did an amazing job cleaning it. I tried this horn and it is great! I even remarked that in some ways, the response of this horn reminded me of a small version of my 6450. If you are looking for a versatile CC with even response, and a unique voice this is your horn. I took it through the full range of the tuba with ease. Looks as beautiful in person as it does in the pictures. Worth every bit of 8,000- possibly more.

I'll be playing this horn at NABBA with the Old Crown Band in third section. Look me up if you'd like to give it a try.

We'll be moving to a new place in a few weeks. Since I want to move as few items as possible, I'll be willing to take somewhat less than my asking price. If you are serious about wanting this great horn make me a reasonable offer to consider. Just don't bother me with low-balls.
