Nothing. I have a rehearsal in an hour. The drinking comes later! My community band is a wonderfully social group that enjoys gathering at a local 'watering hole' AFTER rehearsal to share stories and a couple of pitchers of whatever 'dark' is on tap!

My usual morning cup of Dollar Store 'breakfast blend' cheap-assed coffee. The current can says Maxwell House 'wake-up roast'. I think it was $6 for a 30.65 ounce can. It's probably floor sweepings with a 20% rat poop filler but I like it lots better than donut shop and Starbucks style expensive stuff.

My morning coffee was an espresso, so not literally drinking it right now (one doesn't do anything else, while drinking an espresso), but anyway, Rwanda Musasa Dukundekawa, very tasty stuff that roasted rather fast in this batch, giving it a relatively bright profile.

According to my understanding of the filler practices with Maxell et al., you don't have to worry about rat poop, they have cheaper stuff at their disposal. They use "chaff", a thin dry skin that comes off the bean during the roast. They found some way to cement the stuff together, and grind it up like coffee. Anyway, I guess it's all in how you brew it - brewing techniques that evolved with this kind of coffee post-WWII don't suit the specialty arabica stuff above very well, and vice versa.

After the wife's friends left last night I perused the kitchen to find what they left. Long story short, a bottle of cheap SoCal way too sweet beyond belief Rose and a bottle of cheap way to bitter Sauvignon blanc. A 50/50 mix however is really good. Really good!

Cleaned out the 'meat drawer' in the fridge and found three Cajun brats, a slice of yesterday's Pappa Murphy's Mediterranian gourmet pizza, some egg rolls, and a few bottles of 'Summer beers'. Life is good!

I tossed all the meats on the grill while drinking the beer. Yes... even the egg rolls grilled beautifully!

(Haggen ran these at 1/2 price a while back. Very good coffee, and I am willing to pay 1/2 their normal price for it. Not full price.)

Spending my Christmas morning with another Raven's Brew coffee: Deadman's Reach. Good coffee to start the day: dark roast with a caffeine boost. T'was a Glenfidditch on Christmas Eve. Probably a dark ale tonight; Bad Santa or an Ill Tempered Gnome, depending on what Santa brings.
