Re: Adams f at BBC
I am from day one, an Eb dude... I have hated 99% of the F tubas I have tried. Mostly due to characteristics I don't like, not sound. I actually owned an Alex for a year that I loved the sound on, but the mid-low range and alternate fingerings drove me batty..
The adams/Hb F is a horn that if I was 25 again with the playing world ahead of me, I would HIGHLY consider. The only way I can describe MY experience with the horn, is that it has the ease of a Yamaha F, with the smooth European sound.... The only F tuba I put in the same category (pistons) is the Gronitz P-125 (at least the couple I got to play out in LA a couple years ago).
Again, we all know that tubas and there human matches are completely based on how YOU feel with it... But again, as an F hater, these are GREAT players...
And FWIW, the YFB 822 CAN be a world class sounding horn.. The right player in combo with a well put together and resonant horn are killer.
