Gemeinhardt vs BMB

Post by apurdum »

I've read a lot on here about BMB tubas, and I know they are basically spun off from Gemeinhardt. My question is, are there any significant differences between the BMB tubas and the Gemeinhardt tubas.

As far as I know, the name on the bell is the only difference between the two.

It's that word "handcraft"...

They were branded Gemeinhardt before he spun off on his own. I have a Gemeinhardt 3/4 size BBB, which I absolutely love. It always cracks people up when I tell them what kind of horn I have.

Here are Mr Barth's own words on the Gemeinhardt tubas - http://www.barthsbrassblog.com/2012/02/ ... tubas.html

If you go back through his blog archives, you can see how the basic design of these tubas moved from W. Nirschl to Gemeinhardt to BMB, including commentary on his various manufacturing locations.
