Why do so many people trying to sell used tubas with Yama-style 3rd valve slides like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-4-E-Flat-Acco ... SwmNlZY-6A
-choose to pull the slide out and put it in backward like this?

The whole point of that type of slide is to minimize potential damage by avoiding parts that stick out.

Re: Begging for damage
A contentious tuba player installs the slide that way so that they can have someplace to rest their pencils... across the inside bows of the slide when they're not using them!
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
