Looks Martin to me, but I'm not 100% sure

Good catch!

I had seen the 3rd valve wrap and pegged it as a 10j without considering the size...
Reading the description, 7 inch collar... er i mean tenon is pretty large.

And yeah the thumb ring like that between two wraps i think i've only seen on a Martin...

It is consistent with a few other details as well. Not that i know much...
Thanks for playing!

It is 100% a Martin Mammoth BBb tuba. The lead pipe, wrap of the tubing, and size of the bows are a dead give away but it is missing the Martin bits that go with it. The ferrules are post 1934. From 1934 and before the Martins had ferrules that resembled the old yorks or Conn tubas. In 1935 they changed to the design pictured in the add.

Not to mention the bell
Is the tenon size the same as a Conn 2xJ? Or does it need a "Martin" bell? Of course, there are the Kanstul bells but they cost more than used bells (especially the unpopular recording bells). Otherwise, it looks like a good project. The visible repairs aren't too drastic. Would make "big sound"

Indeed. Compared to the other one, the tenon and lead pipe are straight but has a few more dents on the rest of the body. Still, a very respectable Martin Mammoth:

Bummer, I thought about bidding but if the 21J bell wouldn't fit would just sit around collecting dust for who knows how long. Would be a good project for a Martin lover. :)

I think somewhere in the archives of this forum, someone claimed that a Martin straight bell fit pretty well in a large BBb Reynolds. I guess there might be some length difference, the Reynolds bell being longer. The Martin model might not have been this one.
