I have a Martin Mammoth with a recording bell, and I've been wanting to get an upright bell for it. Would you be interested in a trade? I assume you have an upright bell?

Thanks anyway...

I assume you bought one of the two Marin bodies that were on eBay recently?

Only if you buy the rest of the horn with it ;) I'll be posting it in the "for sale" section within the next week or two after I've cleaned it and re-aligned the valves!

I thought hard on those two, also. Did you get the straight one or the one with a slightly squished stack? If/when you get a bell, either one should be a player.

FWIW I have a silver plated "Martin Handcraft" recording bell (pretty sure not Mammoth) that I have no use for unless someone has a body that it fits.

Some dents, tenon is bent a bit (I can fix), most of the plating is there. No photos ATM but if someone can use It I'll be happy to make some.

Tenon: ~20 5/8" circumference (6.565" dia)
American sailboats, airplanes, banjos, guitars and flutes ...
Italian motorcycles and cars ...
German cameras and tubas ...

If you still need a bell your Martin, this here has shown up on eBay. It would also give you extra parts for your tuba.

York-aholic,

I have both the bell and stack available from the same horn. I have no idea what they are worth.
I do know what I paid for the upright to replace them and I surely would not ask for the $800 I paid
for that bell. I am located in Fargo, ND. I will do a little market research on the bell system. If you
are interested let me know. They are both in good condition. I'll be back with a price shortly.

YORK-aholic,

A quick look revealed a much older sousaphone bell priced at $250. I'll offer the Martin Mammoth
bell and stack for $300 to you and you paying the shipping and packaging costs to your site. If interested
I can take some pics today.

Yeah, I may have accidentally bought that one. I have a complete Mammoth valve section sitting here. If the pistons fit, I'm in business, if they don't, a little bit of soldering and I'm in business...

I have got to stop buying these things, or else start selling some of them. Otherwise, my place is going to look like Lost's must: tuba store room with a bit of living space squeezed in among them!
I have the same problem. Need to sell some of this heavy metal. :)

Here's a mammoth sousaphone bell.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/283030976767

I vaguely remember the comment that at least their tennons matched. And looking at both a recording bell and a sousa bell, they seemed the same depth front to back. Sousa bell just spread wider.

If ya happen to try it out, let us curious types know how it works...
Thanks for playing!
