Best Excerpt Book
Hello! What is the best excerpt book I can grab just to have on me for my college lessons and such? I have a set of 12 (the name escapes me right now) but I don't particularly want to carry 12 books with me into each lesson I attend... I'm looking for one single book that includes the essential excerpts that all orchestral tubists should know. Thanks!

The One Hundred, Essential Works for the Orchestral Tubist by Wesley Jacobs.

There is no substitute for quality score study or listening to a piece while following a complete part, but this book is a phenomenal resource and has great advice.

The Great Big Book of Tuba Excerpts is pretty good. It is actually 4 big books...

I actually saw this already, but it's too much for me. I would like to get this eventually, but I don't have the funds to pick it up right now.kmorgancraw wrote:The Great Big Book of Tuba Excerpts is pretty good. It is actually 4 big books...

As would I. This series includes MOST excerpts you'll ever come across in an audition. There are some exceptions, (Bydlo and An American in Paris immediately come to mind.) but those can easily be found online.pauvog1 wrote:I'd highly recommend this set.kmorgancraw wrote:The Great Big Book of Tuba Excerpts is pretty good. Just to be clear not all of the 100 works in this book actually have excerpts printed in the book.Travis99079 wrote:The One Hundred, Essential Works for the Orchestral Tubist by Wesley Jacobs.
