Long Island Low Brass: 37th Annual Day of Tuba and Euphonium

Post by LISherm »

It’s time for the Suffolk County (NY) Music Educators Association's 37th Annual Day of Tuba and Euphonium on Friday, November 3 at Central Islip High School.

This year’s guest artists are FivE Euphonium Quartet. In addition to an afternoon clinic and leading performances by the All-County High School Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, Luke, Alex, Mitch and Drew will perform their acclaimed concert-in-a-concert, #Hashtags.

2-300 High School, Middle School and Elementary School participants are expected, plus plenty of teachers, professionals and casual adult players.

Rehearsals and clinics begin at 3:30 pm.

The free concert begins at 6:45 pm featuring Sunnyland Jazz Band with Bob Barta, John Klumpp, Art Hovey and Bob Hovey http://sunnylandjazz.com/; FivE Quartet http://fivequartet.com/; Long Island Tuba Quartet with Michael Canipe, Don Sherman, Jeff Furman, and Zach deVries http://longislandtubaquartet.com/, High School All-County Ensemble, a Faculty Ensemble and the Massed Ensemble Finale.

Matt Walters will be there from Dillon Music with a display, and the famous door prize raffle will feature all kinds of amazing merchandise.

Today is the day (I used to organize and run for 32 years.) Have a great event, everyone. Don, I'm glad you changed me to: a shout out to Chairman Emeritus. When I first moved here, it was: honoring my memory. Yikes!! I'm not dead yet !!
