Just for laughs, which horn were you using?

A tuba player could be forgiven for not recognizing your Buescher "C" helicon, for example...
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

When someone tells me that my tuba really sounds great I often reply, " Yes, just look at it, doesn't it sound great?"

Be grateful that someone thought enough of your playing to come and tell you about their reaction to it. Bask in the glory while you can, regardless of whether you thought you deserved it or not - people just want to show their appreciation. Let them have their moment.

Even when I play a goofy Oktoberfest in some dumb town, if someone comes up to tell me how much they enjoyed the music, I take a moment take to thank them for coming out to hear it. Then again, being sun-sign Leo, I can't get enough adulation - I live for it.

This reminds me of one of my favorite photography stories. At an exhibition of the legendary photographer, Alfred Eisenstadt, a man and little boy approached the photographer. The man asked: "Mr. Eisenstadt, what kind of camera do you use?". Eisenstadt replied: "a Leica". The man looked down at the little boy and said: "See Tommy, we will buy you a Leica and you can take pictures just like Mr. Eisenstadt's".
