I know that everyone who owns a Nirschl thinks that theirs is the best - and, I don't mean anyone any disrespect - HOWEVER - I have played two really incredible Nirschls. One is now owned by Pete Link in Chicago and the other is Daryl's. BOTH were owned and used by Floyd, who, as you know, is directly responsible for these things in the first place!
This is a GREAT instrument.

I have played Daryl's horn as well and it is indeed a fabulous tuba. If a Nirschl is what you are after then check this one out first before taking the flight to Germany. In my humble opinion the newer versions just don't play as sweet as the older ones. This could be due to a number of factors I guess but ultimately it is because these horns are handmade. At any rate we are extremely lucky to have a craftsman around like Walter building these fine instruments. Congrats to the new lucky owner!scottmendoker wrote:I know that everyone who owns a Nirschl thinks that theirs is the best - and, I don't mean anyone any disrespect - HOWEVER - I have played two really incredible Nirschls. nice tuba
this is a great tuba. I just purchased a nirschl and like scott said, i think it is great, but i remember playing daryl's, and it is a tuba well worth the price, seeing that it is just about a 5 thousand dollar discount if you add in a trip to germany and taxes, etc.
