University of North Alabama - Low Brass studio

Post by Lukowicz »

I've recently taken a new position at the University of North Alabama and wanted to share some scholarship information that may be of interest to trombone, euphonium, and tuba players. The University of North Alabama currently offers an out-of-state tuition waiver for students who receive a $250 scholarship or more to participate in the ensembles.

The largest performance ensemble is the UNA "Pride of Dixie" Marching Band, with 220+ members that perform at home football games as well as marching band events throughout the region, including Bands of America competitions. More about our ensembles can be found here: https://www.una.edu/universitybands/ensembles.html

We will be holding four main audition dates for the Fall 2018 semester. Please feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have. UNA is located roughly 2 hours from Memphis and Nashville, and 1 hour from Huntsville.

While I will be new at UNA, my previous studios have been highly active with ITEA, and helped sponsor trips to the regional and international ITEA conferences. The studio also has hosted tuba/euphonium artists including Carol Jantsch (Philadelphia), Don Harry (Buffalo and Eastman), David Earll (University of Wisconsin-Platteville), Craig Knox (Pittsburgh, Center City Brass Quintet), Lance LaDuke (Carnegie Mellon), Tony Kniffen (Indianapolis), Chris Pearlberg (Luzerne Festival), and John DiCesare (Seattle). I am in the process of contacting performers to continue this tradition.
