Mark Finley wrote:compared to a new one, sure, but you don't see many Used 4 rotor BBb tubas selling for close to the price. The market is pretty soft for that style. For example, a 191 in houston went unsold for around $2000, and there is a 186 for $1500 here in Dallas that hasnt' found a home yet
Good point!

Maybe not a great price but a fair price if this is a 5/4. Is there a way to spot the difference without a size referrence?

The vertical main slide is interesting. My 5/4 BBb has a horizintal main slide.

It's a 4/4, and decent "music store price." Probably a very good tuba, although the 4/4 Rudy BBb is not as highly regarded as the 5/4.

If this were Germany, I'm sure it would sell pretty quickly.

I'd say that is a reasonable price for a Rudy 4/4 however I have not ever played a BBb version of these horns. I own a Rudy 5/4 CC and it is a great instrument. I would assume the BBb versions of these horns are just as good as the CC horns. I would stick with your Holton 345 CC though--that horn in my unbiased opinion is a better instrument.

The tuba pictured in the auction is a CC tuba, not a BBb.

No, it isn't a good price.

If this is a 4 valve 4/4 CC, then no, it's not a great deal. Not the worst price I've ever seen, but again, "music store pricing."
