Looking for a solo w/ band
Hi, I am currently looking for a tuba solo with wind band as accompaniment such as a tuba concerto. Does anyone know of any good solos or concertos suitable for a BBb/CC tuba and a high school wind ensemble?

Just to list a few:
-Bencriscutto concertino for Tuba and Band
-Forbes Capriccio for solo Tuba and Wind Band
-Gregson Tuba concerto
There are plenty of others but hopefully these are enough to propogate your search. I'm sure others will chime in as well. Good luck!

James Barnes - Concerto for Tuba.
It was written for Scott Watson to play on CC. Most of it lies really well on CC tubas and (aside from the cadenzas in 1st and 3rd movements) doesn't really get particularly high. I haven't ever played it with wind band, but it seems like a good high school wind ensemble could manage a movement without any major headaches.
David Zerkel has a nice little article .PDF on his studio website ("Do You C What I C?") that details quality solos for contrabass tuba. Included is a section of concerti appropriate for the big horn.

On a lighter note:
"Tiptoe through the Tubas"
A theme-and-variations setting of the great Tiny Tim Classic (which I remember seeing him perform on Johnny Carson the first time around - God, I'm old!)
Yes, I had fun playing it a few years ago.
